This is a trip report by Laura Driggers from her time at EG Simmons park in Ruskin Florida.

When we first got to E G Simmons park in Ruskin Florida we were able to go in and pick out our site. Once we knew what site we wanted we then went back and paid $48 dollars for two nights. ($24 a night for what they offer is to much)

We went with another couple so while the men put up the tents us women went to the grocery store ( which was just down the road and around the corner from the park). Once we got back and everything was in order the men decided it was time to fish. They had a fishing hole and two docks near our campsite to choose from they tried all three. I of course love to fish so i tagged along. The wind was blowing and the water was choppy but we stayed out on the dock talking and having a nice time ( even though nothing was caught by anyone).

There are no trails to walk but several playgrounds and a beach that was closed due to bacteria in the water. So fishing was the only activity there was to do. Fishing from the need of the East camp ground was nice at sunset til the sand fleas started to bite then it became miserable. That ended the first night.

The second day started great up at 6 to fish it was the perfect start to the day.

What made it better was I was the only one to catch a fish. It on the bay so we got to see sting rays and dolphins. Once again as the day went on the attack if the sand fleas got so bad we packed up and left.

So needless to say we won’t be going back to that camp ground again.
